Obituary of Paul William Balle Jr.

Balle, Paul William , of Tierra Verde, aged 85. died on February 22nd after a courageous struggle against cancer, with his family at his side. 

Paul was born in Chicago and remained a lifelong Cubs fan.  He joined the US Marines after graduating Austin High School in Chicago,and then went on to General Motors Institute (GMI), earning his degree in Mechanical Engineering. He joined IBM - had three great children, Paulie, Craig and Lizzie.

Paul and Sarah met in Raleigh NC and embarked upon their “I’ve been moved” careers. Paul ran marathons, loved tennis and poker,Herb Alpert and our Burmese cats.  After earning his MBA, he took early retirement and became an expert in investing.

He will be remembered for his generosity and love for his family....the tragedy of his life was the untimely death of his daughter Lizzie. He is deeply mourned by his wife of 46 years, Sarah: his sons, Paulie of Seattle and Craig (Carminia) of San Diego, as well as many cousins and friends.

 

A private family memorial service will be held. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to benefit veterans charities.
