89, of St. Petersburg, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 8, 2010. He was born in Hillsdale, MI. He graduated from Hillsdale College in 1942 and earned his Masters Degree in Musicology from the University of Michigan. He is a veteran of WWII where he played in the Army Band. He served the United Methodist Church as Minister of Music and as Associate Pastor. Later, he managed a Presbyterian Retirement home in Philadelphia, PA. He married Vivian Wright in 1943, and after retirement they enjoyed traveling and volunteer pursuits in Greene County, VA. He was President of the Greene County Historical Society and authored a book “Greene County History” in 2002. He is preceded in death by his wife, Vivian W. Covey, and his son, Paul Covey. He is survived by his daughter, Suzanne Swisher, of St. Petersburg, FL. He is also survived by 3 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held March 11, 2010 at 2PM at St. Peter’s Episcopal Cathedral, 140 Fourth St. N., St. Petersburg, FL. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, 2112 W. Laburnum Ave., Richmond, VA 23227-4358.
